This week the Innovasia program will be finished with a symposium on our findings in India and on outsourcing in particulair. The new Innovasia website contains a lot of info on our visit to Bangalore for people who are interested or would like to follow the same program next year.

Besides Innovasia, I have been very busy preparing for my intern at Avanade to graduate next semester. Avanade is a joint-venture between Accenture (80%) and Microsoft (20%). Its Dutch office is based in Almere: near Amsterdam. The topic of the project will be focused on model-driven software development using domain specific languages (DSLs). This will be done in Microsoft’s newest platform called Microsoft Oslo. I’m very excited about learning these subjects, because it seems they have become very popular over the years. I’m completely new to this, at least it hasn’t been teached by my university. The start of this intern will be around the 1st of February. I’ll keep you posted!

The holiday was also quite good! :-) Tijmen Ruizendaal and I decided to celebrate NYE somewhere different than our hometown Utrecht. Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Pisa, Prague, Copenhagen, Berlin.. train, bus, plane.. we really didn’t know where and how to go. We probably waited way to long because flighttickets skyrocketed and traintickets became very scarce. Suddenly we had this thought of getting there without the need of paid transportation: hitchhiking! We decided to go to Copenhagen by the thumb, what a ride and what a stay! :-) I still have to grab some of the photos (not that much) of my camera and upload them to Flickr. Keep around, I’ll upload them soon!

I recently hooked up my Flickraccount to my blog. I’ll probably upload some photos every now and then.

K3, a famous girl band for pre-adolescent children, is touring the Netherlands this month. My cousin recenlty celebrated her birthday so we figured we should take her to a K3 concert on the 12th of October at the Brabanthallen. She was delighted with her present and couldn’t wait to go there!

The show was entertaining for the youngsters. There was a big screen at the back of the podium which displayed animations outlining the story of the show. The storyline was about a magic ball which could grant each girl a wish. Pretty exciting!

Scam
There were parents who were literally looking at their watches every minute, some were even short text messaging through the whole show! I think I do understand those parents, but second guessing I just can’t: I don’t have kids who play K3 day in day out and especially not at those valuable hours in the morning.. I was a bit disappointed in the fact they were not performing live: they probably had a rough weekend somewhere in a Dutch bar or club, but hey, we had a great time clapping, dancing and singing on the soundwaves of K3.

Past friday and saturday TodaysArt08 was held in the Hague. What a ride.. Too bad I only went there on saturday. Passe-par tout tickets where cheap event though there were many exciting exhibitions you could hear, feel, see and taste.

We started of with a couple of drinks on Spuiplein, still enjoying the nice warm glow of the sun. After a few minutes ‘enjoying’ the cold shadow we decided to go and have a walk around the place.

My three favs:

• Seabear and Borko, two bands from Iceland took stage in the Dr. A. Philipzaal and delivered a really tight performance!

• Singing Tesla coils, just watch the video, 8bit music rocks!

• Projections on the city hall

The afterparty of TodaysArt was at het Paard van Troje (translated: the Trojan Horse). We didn’t stay that long, we were tired and we would still have a long and boring trip home (Utrecht). We took the train at the Hague at 02:30 and were home at about 04:00. The Album Leaf and Múm penetrated my ears as I fell asleep..
