K3 in concert

me, Elise (cousin) and Eline (girlfriend) on our way to K3!

K3, a famous girl band for pre-adolescent children, is touring the Netherlands this month. My cousin recenlty celebrated her birthday so we figured we should take her to a K3 concert on the 12th of October at the Brabanthallen. She was delighted with her present and couldn’t wait to go there!

The show was entertaining for the youngsters. There was a big screen at the back of the podium which displayed animations outlining the story of the show. The storyline was about a magic ball which could grant each girl a wish. Pretty exciting!

K3 and a nice podium, full of big red hearts

Probably the most important shot of all: Elise shaking hands with one of the girls. :-)

Scam
There were parents who were literally looking at their watches every minute, some were even short text messaging through the whole show! I think I do understand those parents, but second guessing I just can’t: I don’t have kids who play K3 day in day out and especially not at those valuable hours in the morning.. I was a bit disappointed in the fact they were not performing live: they probably had a rough weekend somewhere in a Dutch bar or club, but hey, we had a great time clapping, dancing and singing on the soundwaves of K3.

Wow, I envy you, seeing K3. That’s Kristel Verbeke shaking Eline’s hand.

Last May a friend from Belgium told me about K3, and after watching a few of their best videos on YouTube, I was hooked. Unlike my friend I don’t speak Flemish, and except for a few words here and there the lyrics remain a mystery to me, but I love the sound of the language itself.

I consider K3 to be one of the best pop music groups ever, and I’m disappointed that adults in the audience were anxious for the show to end. When my son was little I was bored at Disney on Ice shows, but I can’t imagine feeling that way at a K3 concert.
